Royal Enfield :The oldest Global Motorcycle Brand Still in Production.

Today in this blog we will be talking about the legendary motorcycle brand which may not be the favourite but the dram of Every BIKER.

That legendary Motorcycle brand is none other than
Logo In Their Earlier Days
 Today, one of the highest selling motorcycles in INDIA, Brought to us by an England based Cycle manufacturing company made its first debut motorcycle in 1893.

#Initial Days Of Success:
Their Initial Success started when England decided to replace the horses in World War One with Royal Enfield Motor Cycles, which helped the soldiers in such a way that England Won the Battle , which in-turn boosted the brand value of Royal Enfield.

Side car in Royal Enfield in Word War one was meant to hold Machine Gun.

Soon their was an exponential growth in sales number , then in world war two America decided to use Royal Enfield motorcycles as well,  as both the countries England & America won the war it gave an Tremendous boost to the brand value of Royal Enfield.

Soon the export of Royal Enfield progressed, therein when India was n much need of Motorcycles for Border Patrolling,Royal Enfield 350cc Bikes were considered the most suitable for the job.

Hence 800 Royal Enfield Bikes (1960 variant )were Imported from England.

#Royal Enfield's Entry In India:
In 1955, Royal Enfield Partnered with Madras Motors , soon started the production of the bikes in the name of Enfield India.
In the year 1962 Royal Enfield provided Madras Motors with all the parts and machinery so that they could manufacture their own Enfield in India.

In 1970, Due to lack of demand Royal Enfield had to shut down in England But the craze of Royal Enfield was still growing in India.

In 1990, Royal Enfield Produced a Diesel variant which was not a Commercial Success.

Also, Royal Enfield was the first company in India which manufactured 4-Stroke Engine.

Royal Enfield Now Exports its like to more than 42 countries including Japan and Germany.

#Reason Behind the Moto: 'Made Like A Gun'
Royal Enfield before entering into Motor cycle business used to manufacture Guns, hence got their moto behind their bikes as well. Thats why they have a canon in their Earlier Logos.


#Some Important Dates:

  • Started the Company in 1891.
  • 'Made like a Gun' was trademarked in 1893.
  • Made its first Quadricycle in 1900.
  • Produced first motorcycle in 1901.
  • Launched their first V-Twin in 1909.
  • Produced their first 2-Stroke motor cycle in 1919.
  • Adopted their Saddle like tank in 1928.
  • The Legendary Bike Bullet came in Existence in 1932.(and still in production).
Modern Day Royal Enfield Bullet 350

  • Prototype for the first 350cc motorcycle was coined in 1948.
  • Formation of Enfield India was formed in 1955.
  • Eicher Company acquired Enfield India in 1994.
  • First Continental GT (Cafe Racer like structure)was produced in 2013.
And is still continuing their excellent work of producing Legendary bikes which rule the heart of every  biker.
